How To Create A Percentage Change Formula in Excel (Video transcript)

In the last lecture, we tried to find the Year to date profits. Let’s try to find the percentage change in profits between the quarters.

Obviously the first quarter will not have any changes. so the percentage increase should start in Q2. to get the change from Q2 and Q1, we can simply subtract this change. and to get the percentage of the change from Q1, we will divide it by Q1.

Let’s insert that simple formula here in C7. =C6-B2/Q1. We have to make inclose this by a parnthesis. Otherwise the result will be wrong.

So now we can drag to copy to the other quarters. we can format to be a percentage and increase the decimal as well.
