# How to Use IF Functions and Relational Operators in Excel

## How to Use IF Functions and Relational Operators in Excel (Video transcript)

If function is the most powerful function of Microsoft Excel. It is a conditional kind of functions. It allows us to come up with multiple answers based on a condition.

Here we have ICT sales and here we have a shipping cost. We want to add some condition here based on the subtotal amount. If the subtotal sale is greater than that like 5,000, there will not be a shipping charge. Otherwise there will be 2% shipping charge.

To handle this condition will use the if condition. =If(E4>=5000,0,2%*E4). We can double click to copy it down. What if we change our mind and 3000 is great sale and we want to decrease the shipping charge.

We can modify the formula to include this condition. We add another if function to handle this. =IF(E4>=5000,0,IF(E4>=3000,1%*E4,2%*E4). We can double click to copy the formula to down.

This is a simple example. The IF function is a powerful tool to handle such condition.
