How To Create Year To Date Totals in Excel (Video transcript)

In the last lecture, we have seen how to create simple formulas. Now we can go further to calculate year to date totals

Let’s first calculate the profits. It is simple, we can subtract expenses from profit. =B3-B4. Now we can drag to copy the formula to the other cells.

To calculate the year to date totals for quarters across, first, we should keep in mind the first Quarter Year to date totals equals the profits. We can put a simple formula. =B5.

The next quarter Year to date total will be the First quarter + Q2. So =B6+C5. This means Q1+Q2. To calculate for other quarters we can simply drag the formula up to Q4.

So we got the Year to date totals for all the quarter.
